Why Here?
There are a number of reasons not to be here. I can hear my SEO buddy now, iterating through the litany: “It’s on a subdomain”, “The permalinks use IDs”, “There’s no blogroll”, “And no categories — or archives”, and “How can you even hear me — there’s no comments!”
Well the truth is, if I wasn’t here thinking out loud, I wouldn’t be thinking out loud at all. I’ve installed Blogger, I’ve installed WordPress, and I’ve stared into the admin tools with a mind as blank as their huge form fields. I guess I just don’t feel like writing, but I’m always up for a chat.
Tumblr feels different; it’s inviting and simple and quick. The narrow column looks complete with shorter bursts of information. The lack of archives makes for a more ephemeral writing experience; the little editor in my head doesn’t seem to be as severe. No comments with which to be spammed.
